This activity requires students to organize items by both shape and by size. Once the students determine which shapes to place horizontally within a row, they must then assign the individual shapes according to size, moving left to right (small to large). Thus, students must order the objects according to like shapes and by size progression. This type of “double processing” is common in higher cognitive tasks and provides good practice for academic and real life thinking skills.
